BRINGING ARTS IN EDUCATION TO SCHOOLS FOR OVER 3O YEARS!
Queens, Nassau & Suffolk
MISSION: Circle of Dance is a Long Island not for profit 501c3 dedicated to providing arts education programs to a diverse student population in Suffolk, Nassau and Queens schools. Since 1982 Circle of Dance, a pioneer in the field of arts education, seeks to fulfill its mission as it continues to bring dance /movement programs into the public education system by integrating the arts into school curriculum as an alternative teaching method to achieving academic success and greater communication skills.
OVERVIEW: Dance transcends all cultures in the schools and unites students together with a common language. For over 30 years our programs, “Experiencing Full Body Literacy…Read it, Move it, Own it” and "Dance for All" has allowed those we serve an opportunity to learn, create and work together in a noncompetitive environment. Our objective is to use movement as a means to teach students essential language arts skills necessary for literacy development. In addition, teaching artists further enhance interactive experiences enabling students to gain character building values including: cooperation, sharing, tolerance, risk taking and self confidence which are all central to learning in the arts.
Circle of Dance Repertory Co. Arts in Education program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
